Being the first of its kind in our institution, the Leyte Normal University marker was unveiled yesterday to represent the school as a premiere teacher training institution.
“This marker talks about what LNU is. We call it Unsung Teachers that represents the teacher,” Dr. Maricel Gomez said during the ground breaking rites of the university marker.
“If you have gone to UP, you would see an Oblation and it represents something. If you’re going to VISCA, you would see the Maganda at si Malakas. So we have thought, ‘why not have one that will talk what LNU is’?,” she added.
The project will depict a monument of a teacher holding a hand of a student.
Meanwhile, the location [of the project] is yet to be finalized due to the road widening project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). As of now, plans pertaining to putting the marker in front of the Science building are being contemplated.
Furthermore, Gomez hopes that through this project, the students will have an idea of how LNU was before, how excellence was instilled among them, and how they became successful because of the strictness of the teachers.
