BSHM and BSTM Studes Grab Top Spots at Produktong Lokal 2024


Leyte Normal University (LNU) Students from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) clinched top honors at the Produktong Lokal 2024: A Taste of Filipino Excellence, besting seven other competing Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). The announcement was made public on April 27 at the official Facebook page of the Junior Tourism and Hospitality Management Association of the Philippines (JTHMAP).

BSHM students Anamarie Astorga and Chrislane Louise Velarde, with BSTM students Gabrielle Titular and Janrose Mejico, won first runner-up in the competition with their business idea, “Taco Tropiko.” Meanwhile, third-year BSTM students Francis Noe M. Altar and Yleana Usares and BSHM students Rhea Homeres and Gabriel Garcia secured second runner-up with their food cart venture, “Tara Kalye!”.

Organized by JTHMAP, Produktong Lokal 2024: A Taste of Filipino Excellence is a Business Pitching Competition that revolves around the integration of knowledge, skills, creativity, and tourism and hospitality industry relevance.
