LNU Inks MOA with Sta. Rita, Samar for San Juan by the Bay Development

Leyte Normal University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Sta. Rita, Samar on July 30, 2024, at LNU Hotel Crescencia to collaborate on the development of San Juan by the Bay in Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Rita, Samar.

This collaboration is part of a project initiated by the College of Management and Entrepreneurship called Tourism, Hospitality, and Entrepreneurship’s Business Advancement Yield (THE BAY), aiming to empower the local community by pursuing sustainable tourism development initiatives.

LNU is expected to provide expertise in order to professionalize the Hospitality and Tourism Management Practices in the area while LGU Sta. Rita, Samar shall provide the logistical support of the project.

Representatives from Leyte Normal University included Dr. Evelyn B. Aguirre, LNU President; Dr. Lina G. Fabian, VP for Research, Innovation, and Extension; Dr. Lowell Quisumbing, Director for Community Extension Services; Mr. Marc Llaneras, the project leader, and the faculty of the College of Management and Entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, Sta. Rita, Samar was represented by Engr. Jade Kie R. Tiu, the Municipal Mayor; Ms. Ma. Lourdes S. Barrientos, San Juan by the Bay Cooperative Chairperson; and Ms. Concepcion E. Hineman, the Chairperson of Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Rita, Samar; and other LGU officials.

This initiative seeks to empower the local community by pursuing sustainable tourism development.
