LNU Centennial Marker Groundbreaking

Dr. Evelyn Bernal-Aguirre, Leyte Normal University president led the groundbreaking ceremony of the LNU centennial marker last November 19, 2021, attended by the key officials of the university, faculty, administrative staff and some students.

Gracing the occasion were LNU faculty regent Hon. Rutchelle E. Caliwan, student regent Hon. Quennie Jean F. Ureña, LNU-EU President Prof. Oreste M. Ortega, Jr., ASA President Mrs. Cheryline E. Pido and Alumni Director Prof. Thea A. Ticoy, who, along with Dr. Aguirre, took part in the signing of the investiture program construction blueprint, the ceremonial laying of time capsule, and the unveiling of the centennial marker.

In her message, Dr. Aguirre emphasized that in its 100 years, LNU ought to have a marker symbolic of what it has been doing and what it has become since 1921 to 2021. As a teacher training university, Aguirre said that it is fitting that the marker or symbol will be the evolution of a teacher. The four persons in the marker represent the 1921 Thomasite teachers, the modern teacher, an upbeat teacher and finally a teacher representing the flexible learning modality. She further described that at the base of the globe are the different milestones of the university from 1921-2021.

“Pahinungod Ha Mga Bag-o Nga Magturutdo” , a cultural presentation by the LNU Sirang Theater Ensemble with their adviser and artistic director Prof. Joey N. Lianza was also one of the event highlights.
