LNU Beefs Up ELT Pedagogies of Pre-Service Teachers

Leyte Normal University, in partnership with the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the US Embassy Manila, organized a Teacher Training Workshop: Teaching English to Young Learners for Pre-Service Teachers on January 22, 2023, at LNU Ballroom.

Dr. Julie Goldman, English language specialist and Dr. Carleen Velez, English Language Officer from the RELO, shared their expertise on various topics on English as a Second Language, English Language Teaching (ELT) curriculum and instruction, multilingualism, instructional design that promotes equity for students.

The training workshop was participated by fourth-year students from the Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English and Bachelor in Early Childhood Education programs, Languages and Literature Unit faculty, internship coordinators, and the management committee.

The event aims to highlight the importance of adapting and personalizing ELT methods to match the linguistic context of the learners and to inclusive and high-quality English education that is accessible to all.
